An Advocate, with a wealth of expertise in Anti-Bribery and Corruption in the Private Sector; Sarah Powell is currently the Global Compliance Counsel and Director of Third-Party Anti-Bribery and Corruption Compliance at Pearson plc, the world’s largest learning company and a member of the FTSE 100. Having practised as both an Attorney and then Advocate in Kwazulu-Natal, before relocating to London in 2014, Sarah’s career experience includes working on the implementation of a global compliance programme across more than 60 countries at United International Pictures. Her current role comprises a specific focus on due diligence, sanctions compliance and conflicts of interest in third-party anti-bribery and corruption. Shortlisted, in her personal capacity, for the prestigious Compliance Officer of the Year Award in 2018, her team was also shortlisted for In-House Compliance Team of the Year in 2019, at the International Women in Compliance Awards. A proudly South African patriot, Sarah is committed to the continual fight against corruption on a global scale, and is an advocate for justice, morality and integrity in business.
